Soccer Report
On Friday 17 March St Margaret’s hosted Clayfield in Round 2 of the QGSSSA Autumn Fixture.
Our Junior Soccer Team showed their true sportsmanship when they went out of their way to help the Clayfield team. With some of Clayfield's players unavailable, the team was struggling to field a full squad. That's when members of the 樱桃福利视频 team offered to play for Clayfield. The 樱桃福利视频 players worked well with the Clayfield team, encouraging them throughout the game and helping them to improve their play. The season looks bright for this young team having pushed St Peter’s the week before to narrow 3-2 defeat.
Our 樱桃福利视频 Intermediate Team won a tight 2-1 match. The perseverance of Elke Clauson and Elouise made all the difference in the match, and the team was thrilled with the win.
The Open Team also won a thrilling match, with Maddie Swan and rookie Sally Bambling scoring their first goals of the season. The 樱桃福利视频 midfield and defense players stood strong, intercepting passes and creating opportunities for their forwards. Goalkeeper Tiffany-Rose made some exceptional saves to keep the opposing team at bay.

The 樱桃福利视频 Soccer Team is looking forward to the rest of the season, and they're hoping to continue their winning streak while also helping out any teams in need along the way.
Athletics State Championships Report
From Thursday 9 - Sunday 12 March, the Queensland Athletics Championships took place in Brisbane at the QLD State Athletics Centre in Mt Gravatt. St Margaret’s had 15 athletes compete across the weekend in a range of events and achieved many great results, including personal bests, national qualifiers and medal winning performances.
In the under 13 age group, Lucy Page competed in the 800m and 1500m events, running very well and making it into the final for both races, just missing out on a medal.
From the secondary school, in the under 14 age group both Zara Ferguson and Georgiana Richardson competed in the 800m. Zara ran a PB to qualify for the final, then backed it up with another PB in the final to finish 4th in a time of 2:20.82. Georgiana backed up for the 1500m and ran her heart out.
Our under 15 athletes showed great range, with Ashley Blackman, Ava Thompson and Emma Hicks competing across a wide variety of events. Ashley competed in both hurdles events – 90m and 200m, the triple jump and the high jump, where she jumped a new PB of 1.65m on her way to winning the gold medal. Emma Hicks competed alongside Ashley in the triple jump, where she earned herself the bronze medal with a jump of 10.44m. Emma backed this up with strong performances in the long jump and javelin. Ava Thompson ran very well in super tough competition in both the 800m and 1500m races, where she set a new PB in the latter of 5:04.61.
In the under 16 age group, Georgia Hopwood and Charlotte Ferguson showed plenty of speed. Both girls competed in the 100m, with Georgia running a lightning fast 12.82s to go through to the final. Georgia is a hurdles specialist, and this showed in the 90m hurdles where she ran 2nd to earn the silver medal. Charlotte also ran in the 200m, qualifying for the final and running an awesome time of 26.43s.
Not to be outdone by the age group below them, the under 17s are building a formidable 4 x 100m relay team ready for the QGSSSA athletics season. Ebony Okonkwo, Lily Hicks and Leah Cox all competed well in speed and power events. In the short sprints, Ebony and Leah ran both the 100m and 200m. Ebony performed superbly, qualifying for the final in both races, narrowly missing a medal in the 100m, but taking out the gold medal in the 200m with a time of 25.19s. Impressively, Leah backed up to also run the 400m alongside Lily. Both girls qualified easily for the final, ran very well but narrowly missed out on taking home a medal. In a big weekend for Lily, she also jumped strongly in the long and triple jump events. Flying the flag for the endurance events in this age group was Ruby East, running a PB and national qualifier in the 2000m steeplechase (a brutal event for those who have not seen it) in a time of 7:41.21.
In the older age groups, St Margaret’s was well represented in the endurance events by Amber Norton and Ginger Cox – under 18, and Isabella Harte – under 20. Ginger and Amber both ran well in the 1500m, but it was their other events where they really shone, bringing home a gold medal each. Ginger was 1st in the 2000m steeplechase, while Amber won the 5000m race walk. Up in the under 20 age group, Isabella Harte ran her way to a bronze medal in the 1500m in a time of 4:36.22.
Well done to all girls who competed, the competition was very tough and you should all be extremely proud of yourselves.
